Do send/receive settings affect automatic 24-hour offline address book downloads?

The Download offline address book check box in the Send/Receive Settings - "Group_name" dialog box does not affect the 24-hour download process.

As a faculty/staff member, your Outlook program automatically syncs with the Exchange server on a regular basis. For example, say a new person joins your workgroup.

You are unable to see his information in your address book.

(This could take several minutes) Step 2: Uncheck the box next to Download changes since last Send/Receive.

(This could take several minutes) Outlook shows the "Updating Address Book" status for a long time. Outlook has a throttling feature that slows the address book update when you are working in Outlook.

In this dialog box, you can specify either No Details or Full Details.

If this is happening, then you may notice missing, non-existent and/or incorrect entries.

In the Information to download section, select Full Details and in the Address Book section, choose \Global Address List. **NOTE** Please read this section carefully, or your update will not work!!

In Cached Exchange Mode, Outlook 2007 & 2010 downloads a local copy of the Global Address List (GAL), but only updates it every 24 hours.

In order to reflect any changes or updates made to the Global Address List, you can force Outlook to download a new copy of the GAL.

Step 3: The new version of the GAL will now be downloaded.
