Shotgun approach to online dating
It’s a cluster of self-limiting beliefs that holds people back from meeting new and exciting potential partners, whether it’s for sex or for relationships.
This is one of the most pernicious myths about dating out there.
They promote literally impossible standards in myriad ways – both overt and subtle.
Beauty standards as we’re taught in western culture are European features and bodies and skin that can only be achieved via money, surgery and lots and LOTS of Photoshop.
They are The Choosers, the gatekeepers to the Promised Land, cruel temptresses who taunt men by being attractive and yet unavailable.A woman will find frequently find her profile flooded with emails and winks. Now ask her just how many of those come from people she’d want to talk to at all, never mind go on a date with.Guys frequently get hung up on numbers; how many people have you slept with, how quickly can you get a woman to sleep with you. The problem is that men are viewing women through the prism of the male experience: the goal of getting sex as quickly as possible, as easily as possible. They have a tendency to fall for the old axiom that sex is like pizza; even when it’s bad, it’s still pretty good. While exceptions certainly exist, women on the whole don’t approach casual sex the way that men do; they’re not looking for how quickly they can find a pole for the hole, they’re looking for someone who excites them and can provide the sex they want.
