Updating a record in mysql

Within the script, PHP function My SQL_query() execute the SQL command.

We have used a table called 'item' to apply the query: Table Name : item Structure : item_code varchar(20), value int(11), quantity int(11) where item_code is the primary key.

(Bug #11758262, Bug #50439) See Section 16.2.1.3, “Determination of Safe and Unsafe Statements in Binary Logging”, for more information.

If you access a column from the table to be updated in an expression, assignments are generally evaluated from left to right.

If IGNORE is provided, all errors encountered during the update are ignored.

If an update on a row would result in a violation of a primary key or unique index, the update on that row is not performed.

My SQL UPDATE using NULL My SQL UPDATE command can be used to update a column value to NULL by setting column_name = NULL, where column_name is the name of the column to be updated.

The following My SQL statement will update pub_lang column with NULL if purch_price is more than 50.

PHP Script Sample Output: Multiple Updates in My SQL Sample table: table1 Problem If you want to update the val1 with 5,8 and 7 for concerned id 1,3 and 4 and the other val1 will remain same and the val2 will be updated with 13 and 5 for the concerned id 2 and 4 and the other will remain same, the following update statement can be used by using IF and CASE.

If UPDATE gives an error like this:"You are using safe update mode and you tried to update a table without.."..it may be that your file must be edited to disable safemode. In order for the change in the file to take effect, you must have permission to restart mysqld in the server OS environment.

There is a page in the online documentation that explains safe mode entitled 'safe Server Startup Script'.
